An oxygen nebulizer is a medical device used to convert medications or oxygen into tiny particles that are inhaled into the patient’s lungs via breathing, thereby achieving a therapeutic effect. Based on the method of contact during use, nebulizers can be categorized into two types: mask-type and mouthpiece-type.

Mask-type nebulizer: This type of nebulizer typically comes with a mask that can be directly placed over the patient’s nose and mouth. The mask-type nebulizer is suitable for children or patients who cannot securely hold a mouthpiece, as it provides more stable drug delivery and reduces medication waste.

Mouthpiece nebulizers: These nebulizers come with a small plastic mouthpiece that patients need to bite down on, allowing them to inhale the medication through their breath. Mouthpiece nebulizers are suitable for adults or children who can independently control their breathing. They are typically more compact, making them easy to carry and use.

When choosing a nebulizer, you should decide which type to use based on the patient’s age, medical condition, and personal preferences. At the same time, when using a nebulizer, you should also follow your doctor’s instructions and recommendations to ensure that treatment is both safe and effective.
